The Yard Jockey is responsible for jockeying trailers under the direction of a supervisor or foreman, and loading trucks as needed. This role also involves preparing for the day by completing vehicle condition reports (VCRs) for the jockey truck and forklift, and organizing and cleaning the work area. The Yard Jockey will move trailers from the lot to dock doors and back, work with the foreman and supervisor to move raw material loads, and install/remove trailer stands. Additionally, the role includes reviewing bills of lading (BOL) for product to be loaded, completing final certification for outbound loads, and handling out-of-stock items with the foreman. The Yard Jockey will also complete partial pallets, wrap any partial pallets when complete, process paperwork in the National Inventory System (NIS) or hand it to a supervisor, and stage or load pallets into trucks. Finally, the role requires completing partial pallets, putting away mixed pallets, and maintaining proper housekeeping standards in the work area.
