About The Position

General Trading has an immediate job opening for an experienced Yard Driver/Switcher to work 1st shift. The Yard Driver/Switcher must back in and pull out trailers and straight trucks in order to load and unload at dock doors. The Yard Driver/Switcher must fuel refrigerated trailers following safe practices and OSHA regulations. The Yard Driver/Switcher must have a CDL Class A license, be familiar with US DOT, and Vehicle Maintenance and Inspections. The Yard Jockey/Switcher must be able to operate company issued equipment including, yard tractor, refrigerated equipment, diesel fuel pump and Liftgates when applicable.

Location: Carlstadt, NJ (Meadowlands area)

Requirements

• Valid NJ or NY CDL class A drivers license, a valid medical card and pass a US DOT regulated drug screen.
• 3-6 months driving experience in a combination tractor trailer.
• Must follow all OSHA and US DOT regulations as it applies to vehicle maintenance
• Must pass a road test.

Responsibilities

• Pre-trip and back in and pull out semi-trailers in our yards
• Fuel equipment when applicable
• Reset Reefer alarm codes
• Operate company issued handheld barcode scanner entering moves and fuel entries
• Perform Pre and Post trip inspections on yard tractors and trailers
• Wash out trailers when necessary
• Follow safe practices and report defects and issues
