About The Position

US Foods is one of the largest food distributors with a culture and history of promoting from within, excellent training programs and a continuous improvement focus. The Yard Jockey is responsible for communicating with the dispatcher/router for truck/trailer and door assignments, keeping assigned equipment coupled, and moving trailers between buildings as directed. This role also involves loading, unloading, or merging loads between environments, staging shuttle trailers nightly, setting up trailers for backhaul, and placing backhauls in the correct door for unloading. The Yard Jockey ensures all equipment is paired and ready for the next day's deliveries and works with mechanics nightly. Attendance at all required company meetings is mandatory, along with performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Must have valid driver's license issued by state of residence
• Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations
• Must be able to pass DOT physical.
• Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.

Nice To Haves

• Minimum of six months Non-CDL commercial driving experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Communicate with Dispatcher/Router for truck/trailer and door assignments

• Move trailers between buildings as directed by Router or Warehouse Supervisor
• Load, unload or merge loads between environments
• Stage shuttle trailers nightly for shuttle drivers
• Set up trailers for backhaul with tractor and empty pallets
• Place backhauls in correct door to be unloaded by warehouse
• Make sure all equipment is paired and ready for next day's deliveries.
• Work with mechanics nightly
• Attend all required company meetings.
