About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL truck driver for a local yard position in Middletown, Pennsylvania. The role involves safely handling and maneuvering tractor-trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads. It is a no-touch position involving trailer swaps, with local routes and daily home time. Drivers operate a day-cab tractor and a 53-foot dry van trailer. Trucks are described as well-maintained, safe, and 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance support and fueling available at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

The position pays $27 per hour, with 40 hours per week guaranteed and weekly pay. It includes a $2,000 sign-on bonus, a $1,200 loyalty bonus, and paid training. The schedule is Monday through Friday, starting at 3:30 PM.

Ryder offers medical, dental, and vision coverage after 30 days; PTO accrual beginning on the first day, with up to 80 hours accrued in the first year; uniforms; cell phone and boot allowances; a 401(k) rollover option with company match after one year; 12 weeks of paid maternity leave subject to eligibility criteria; and employee discounts. Requirements

• Be at least 21 years old.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.

Responsibilities

• Safely handle and maneuver tractor-trailers on the yard and within an area on public roads.
• Comply with safety and DOT regulations, participate in continuous training, and provide customer service.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Maintain accurate move and yard inventory records.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
