About The Position

Ryder is hiring a Class A CDL Yard Driver in Locust Grove, Georgia. This local driving position offers daily home time and consists of yard moves and shuttle work with no-touch freight. Drivers operate day cab and yard trucks and trailers ranging from 28 to 53 feet. Ryder provides paid training on the required equipment and maintains trucks that are 36 months old or newer, with 24/7 roadside maintenance and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations.

Drivers earn $25 per hour, with 40 or more hours per week, weekly pay, and earnings of $1,000 or more per week. The schedule alternates weekly between Wednesday through Saturday and Thursday through Saturday, with a 6:00 AM start time. Ryder describes its drivers as empowered to make safety decisions and offers support throughout their careers.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including drug and alcohol verification from previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional screening, such as employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and/or state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Load and unload freight, or assist with loading and unloading if required by the customer.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
