About The Position

Yard Hostler is a role within the Last Mile and Logistics department. This position involves inspecting trailers for DOT compliance, moving and hooking up trailers, and communicating trailer movements to management. The role also requires cross-training and assisting in Last Mile and Loadout operations, which may include occasional independent work and travel to Last Mile well sites.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and understand English and apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
  • High school Diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred; or one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of both.
  • Successfully complete all pre-employment screenings and background check.
  • Provide a valid driver's license and clean MVR.

  • Strong understanding of BOL processes and all Last Mile and logistics applications.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to cross train Loadout and obtain MSHA requirements.
  • Basic understanding of planning trucking routes.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect trailers and complete pre-trips to ensure DOT compliance.
  • Move and hook up trailers in various configurations (single, double, triple).
  • Communicate all trailer moves and trailer numbers with operations management.
  • Load sand into trailers using a portable conveyor system.
  • Weigh trailers using a drive-over scale.
  • Print BOLs (Bill of Lading).
  • Track paperwork for inbound and outbound trucks.
  • Assist with trailer inspections.
  • Maintain organization of the depot.
  • Operate the yard mule.
  • Travel in the Permian and work a Last Mile wellsite when needed.
  • Cross-train Loadout and obtain MSHA requirements.
  • Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Perform highly physical work at a consistent rate.
  • Work and make yard moves with yard awareness.
  • Abide by and enforce the policies and procedures of FFE.
  • Complete tasks and responsibilities in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperative effort.
  • Work independently.
  • Understand BOL processes and all Last Mile and logistics applications.
  • Possess strong communication skills.
  • Have a basic understanding of planning trucking routes.
