Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED equivalent, or Trade School Diploma.
  • Minimum 3+ years Plumbing and or Electrical background.
  • Some experience in facets of the plumbing trade.
  • Experience performing various mechanical maintenance and repair work.
  • Ability to diagnose problems and determine appropriate action with assistance.
  • Read, interpret, and work from sketches, books, blueprints, and specifications.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move more than 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move more than 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move in excess of 100 pounds.
  • Must have a valid driver's license at all times.
  • Possess or have the ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in soldering, brazing, and welding steel and stainless steel is a plus.
  • Demonstrate familiarity with a wide range of power and hand tools.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Service Technicians to diagnose, troubleshoot, and expertly repair a diverse range of centrifugal pumps, including domestic water, HVAC (tower cooling & chilled water), submersible, column, and sump/sewage pumps.
  • Perform inspections, modifications, preventive maintenance, and installations of pumps, electric motors, valves, and associated mechanical equipment within water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Provide essential support in the troubleshooting and repair of pressure-reducing valves integral to domestic water booster systems.
  • Assist in the comprehensive repair of sewage ejector pumps, their intricate controls, and associated systems.
  • Support Service Technicians in identifying and resolving common electrical issues, encompassing three-phase and single-phase electrical systems, capacitors, and start relays.
  • Contribute to the troubleshooting and repair of Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) for electric motors and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs) for pump controls.
  • Work alongside Service Technicians to conduct thorough on-site diagnostics for pump and related equipment repairs or replacements.
  • Accurately gather critical site information, capture detailed photographic documentation of equipment and access points, and collaborate with the estimating department to prepare precise and timely project estimates.
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations during standard working hours and when scheduled for 24-hour on-call emergency service, ensuring minimal downtime for critical systems.
  • Assist in the execution of planned maintenance schedules, meticulously inspecting pump systems and related equipment, and proactively recommending necessary repairs, replacements, or calibrations to optimize performance.
  • Strictly adhere to all electrical safety regulations and diligently follow Lock-out/Tag-out procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Contribute to the meticulous maintenance and organization of service truck tools, safety equipment, instruments, and materials specifically used for pump, motor, and equipment servicing.
  • Assist in managing and maintaining optimal stock levels of pumps, parts, fittings, pipe, and related materials on the service truck.
  • Proactively review job-related documentation, including pictures, work sheets, and material lists, prior to dispatch, ensuring all necessary items are accounted for and anticipating additional material requirements.
  • Operate a diverse array of hand and power tools with proficiency for construction, repair, and maintenance tasks.
  • Demonstrate exceptional care and responsibility for all assigned equipment and tools, performing routine cleaning and lubrication to ensure their longevity and optimal function.
  • Load and unload materials efficiently onto trucks and trailers, ensuring proper securing for transport.
  • Maintain an organized and efficient yard space for optimal material access and workflow.
  • Accurately count and monitor supplies inventory, assisting with reordering as needed.
  • Facilitate efficient operations by dropping off and picking up orders at local vendors.
  • Perform routine maintenance on all fleet vehicles, ensuring they are in optimal working condition.
  • Leverage diesel and small engine repair experience to support fleet and equipment readiness.
  • Confidently operate small and large trucks, with or without trailers, navigating various terrains and conditions.
  • Apply welding skills (MIG and stick) as needed for repairs and fabrications.
  • Proficiently use a cutting torch for various applications.
  • Operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Organize and gather materials effectively for upcoming jobs, demonstrating foresight and proactive planning.
  • Contribute to overall facility maintenance and upkeep.
  • Consistently perform duties in a highly professional manner, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Cultivate and maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues, external agencies, and the public, fostering a positive collaborative environment.
  • Exhibit regular attendance and strict adherence to the prescribed work schedule, ensuring consistent coverage and productivity.
