About The Position

Xcel Energy is anticipating an opening for one or more Yard Equipment Attendant(s)-Rotating at the Allen S. King Generating Plant in Bayport, MN. The rate of pay for this classification is $42.95 (2026 rate) with applicable rates for evening and night shift work. Employees who are interested and possess the necessary qualifications and requirements may apply. The position will be posted for 10 working days from April 29, 2026, to May 5, 2026. Requirements

  • Must have the mechanical ability and the physical dexterity to operate MERP installed equipment, coal conveyors, and any other associated coal yard equipment.
  • Must have the adequate experience as a Coal and Ash Handler.
  • Must have full knowledge of coal conveying systems and in-plant bunker management.
  • Must have the ability to intelligently communicate constructively with plant personnel, both verbally and in writing.
  • Must pass the EEI POSS/MASS Test

Responsibilities

  • Will be required to actively participate in training and retraining programs as directed by plant management.
  • Will be required to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Will be required to work a scheduled rotating shift.
  • Will be required to function under written operating and maintenance procedures as required by management.
  • Will be required perform duties or work when necessary, from scaffolding and catwalks in high and confined areas.
  • May be required to accept temporary assignments at other locations including nuclear plants as prescribed by plant management and be required to meet screening requirements under NRC regulations.
