About The Position

DHL Supply Chain is hiring a Yard Driver to operate a Yard "Jockey" Truck to move containers to and from dock doors and staging areas. This role involves daily inspections of the Yard Truck and containers, performing yard/container checks, and monitoring staging areas. The Yard Driver will also drive switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods, load and unload trailers, verify product counts, maintain a clean and safe docking area, refuel vehicles, and document equipment conditions. The position requires adherence to all company policies and procedures, and maintaining accurate records.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 6 months operating a Yard "Jockey" Truck
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Minimum of one year verifiable experience driving, switching or commercial tractor

Nice To Haves

  • General Warehouse and Forklift experience is a plus!

Responsibilities

  • Operate Yard "Jockey" Truck to move containers to and from dock doors and staging areas, including cutting off bolt seals and opening swing doors.
  • Perform daily inspections of Yard Truck and all Inbound Containers.
  • Perform yard/container checks and monitor staging areas for process consistency.
  • Drive switching equipment, tractors, and straight trucks to transport goods or equipment to and from designated locations.
  • Make decisions in sequencing schedule to maintain efficient loading and unloading operations.
  • Load and unload trailers and verify product count.
  • Maintain a clean and safe docking area and report any maintenance or safety issues to supervision.
  • Refuel vehicles on site and document locations and condition of equipment.
  • Maintain safe and efficient dock operation by switching trailers and equipment to and from docks.
  • Maintain equipment fuel levels and refuel equipment during appropriate times.
  • Verify the count and condition of product when loading and unloading trucks. Report overages, shortages, and damages.
  • Properly secure loads, ensuring loads are within local, state and federal guidelines.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate records and/or logs as required by policies and procedures.
  • Inspect truck equipment and supplies such as tires, lights, brakes, fuel, oil, and water. Notify supervision of current or anticipated repair needs.
  • Comply with all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
