About The Position

Requirements

At least six months of yard driver experience in a vehicle of similar size and weight.
Proficiency in backing trailers into dock doors and parking slips.
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
Ability to lift/carry up to 78lbs.
Ability to push/pull items with a maximum force of 34 lbs/feet.
Ability to climb in and out of the spotter truck numerous times per day, hooking and unhooking trailers.
Must be 18 years of age.

Nice To Haves

Commercial driving experience.

Responsibilities

Safely operate spotter trucks to move trailers to and from dock doors, loading areas, and storage locations within the yard, hooking and unhooking trailers.
Keep the yard clean and organized, ensuring that trailers are parked in designated areas and that there is a clear path for movement.
Follow all CHEP and regulatory safety procedures, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to traffic laws within the yard.
Conduct pre- and post-trip inspections of yard trucks and trailers to ensure they are in safe operating condition, reporting any defects or maintenance needs.
Maintain accurate records of trailer movements, including the location, time, and any issues encountered.
Communicate effectively with warehouse staff, loaders, and Shipping and receiving clerks to ensure trailers are in the correct locations at the right times.
Perform additional tasks as directed by management.
Assist operations in an active trailer yard, performing a variety of duties including operating a spotter truck.
Maintain the accuracy and integrity of the trailer yard through daily yard audits.
