About The Position

Carpenter Co. has an immediate opening for a Yard Driver on first shift at its manufacturing plant in Russellville, Kentucky. The position moves trailers to and from designated docks for loading finished products and stages loaded trailers in designated locations for over-the-road drivers to collect and deliver to external customers. The role supports production goals and operational excellence in a clean manufacturing environment. The Yard Driver may also assist with loading and unloading trailers, fueling and cleaning equipment, monitoring and checking in trucks and deliveries, performing Local Driver duties, and occasionally relieving a security guard.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
6 months to 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle.
Valid Class A CDL.
Must pass a DOT physical examination and drug screen.

Responsibilities

Perform pre-trip trailer checks to ensure compliance with DOT requirements and Carpenter Co. standards.
Follow state and federal traffic laws.
Report damage and unsafe conditions to management before trailers are released for shipment.
Coordinate trailer movements with Dock Supervisors, Security Guards, and Drivers.
Safely move trailers as needed between docks and staging locations.
Assist the loading dock with loading and unloading trailers.
May assist garage personnel and drivers with fueling and cleaning equipment.
Maintain cleanliness around the loading and docking area.
May monitor and check in trucks and deliveries.
May perform Local Driver duties.
May occasionally relieve a security guard as needed.
