About The Position

The Yard Driver is primarily responsible for safety handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within a local area. The position requires compliance with safety & DOT Regulations, continuous training and customer service. Incumbent must be at least 21 years of age. This is a Full time/Permanent position with a wage of $28.00 per hour + $0.50 shift differential. The shifts are Wednesday 12:30pm - 6:30pm, Thursday, Friday, Saturday 6:30am - 6:30pm, located in Winnipeg, MB.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Ability to read and/or listen and understand information and ideas communicated.
• Ability to read, interpret and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies and/or procedures
• Ability to meet Ryder's driving qualifications
• Ability to follow directions
• Ability to create and maintain professional relationships within all levels of the organization (peers, work groups, customers, supervisors).
• Flexibility to operate and self-driven to excel in a fast-paced environment
• Detail oriented with excellent follow-up practices
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team
• Capable of multi-tasking, highly organized, with excellent time management skills
• Minimum of 9 months verifiable experience in commercial driving
• Must not have more than one moving violation or accidents (anything other than parking) in the last 12 months
• Valid Commercial Driver License (CDL) CLASS A & in the US
• Valid Driver's License (AZ/Class1), in Canada
• Must have valid legal authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Safely handling and maneuvering tractor trailers on the yard and within a local area on public roads
• Ensuring compliance with applicable Federal and/or State laws, regulations and/or agency rules, standards and guidelines
• Detecting and eliminating or minimizing safety hazards
• Maintaining accurate records and logs
• Maintaining accurate move and yard inventory records
• Performs other duties as assigned.
