About The Position

The Yard Dog / Spotter Truck maneuvers tractor trailers to support loading and unloading while maintaining safety and security in the division yard and dock area. Work must be completed safely, promptly, and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. The role includes moving and maintaining equipment on site, coordinating equipment for maintenance and repair, and supporting yard-management and logistics operations. The position may also assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers and other site operations.

Requirements

High school degree.
At least 1 year of work experience in semi/yard spotting.
Must be willing to work flexible hours.

Responsibilities

Maneuver and maintain equipment in the yard before dispatch and ensure equipment moves safely around the yard and warehouse.
Drop and hook the tractor to trailers.
Inspect the truck for defects before and after trips and submit reports on its condition.
Coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs, including performing light maintenance.
Perform DOT pre-trip inspections on trailers.
Complete scheduled jobs accurately and on time, supporting the timely loading, unloading, and storage of products in line with customer performance standards.
Monitor yard management and execute logistics activities at the site.
Control product flow through the yard management system and take remedial actions to maintain that flow.
Take autonomous action to prevent accidents.
Follow procedures to maintain product quality in accordance with customer requirements, including temperature and damage standards.
Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers as required by the site.
Assist colleagues, help maintain a clean and tidy work environment, and look for opportunities to improve operations.
Perform other duties as assigned.
