About The Position

The Yard Attendant (1st Shift) position at Eaton's ES GEIS BLD division focuses on maintaining the organization of the backyard and surrounding areas. This role is crucial for managing waste and recycling, operating heavy machinery, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. The position also supports facility improvement initiatives and requires adherence to environmental regulations.

Requirements

  • Must have prior experience operating forklifts
  • Candidates must reside within 50 miles of the work location to be considered for this position. Active-Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitations.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including days and weekends with little advanced notice
  • Able to stand on feet continuously during working shift
  • Able to lift 35 pounds consistently without assistance, 50 pounds occasionally with assistance
  • Must be able to wear required PPE as required by company policy and procedure

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience operating a various forklift (powered industrial vehicles)
  • Prior experience operating a combi lift
  • Responsibility, drive, integrity

Responsibilities

  • Primary owner for trash and recycling duties (i.e., emptying trash bins to the compactor daily, contacting Waste Management when service is needed, operating cardboard baler, etc.)
  • Operate a forklift and/or crane to move raw materials, components, supplies, finished goods and other items
  • Ensure maintained organization of the back yard and surrounding areas in partnership with site Material Handlers and Supervisors. This includes, but is not limited to: Pallet area, Scrap wood area and trailer, Metal scrap containers and trailer
  • Organize material storage location in backyard and inside the building on a regular basis.
  • Complete forklift inspection daily.
  • Act as a backup for department Material Handlers if needed, including loading, and unloading trucks.
  • Ensure compliance with all environmental regulations, especially related to the site’s Storm Water Permit.
  • Keeps work areas clean and safe.
  • Communicate with Purchasing Department and the scrap metal vendor when bins need to be picked up and to ensure they are not overfilled.
  • Fill the cardboard compactor, band, and move bales from the compactor.
  • Supports all facility Continuous Improvement and LEAN initiatives including, but not limited to: Maintain 5-S (sort, set in order, shine, standardize, sustain) throughout shop floor and office areas.
  • Track and sustain all visual management tools such as, but not limited to layered audits, Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) boards, and any additional LEAN tools that are deemed necessary to provide direction, goals, and status to the shop floor.
  • Encourage, support, and actively participate in Kaizen improvements and events throughout the facility, department, and area of responsibility.
