About The Position

Forge & Build is hiring a Part-Time Yard Associate at our facility in Remus, MI. The Yard Associate is responsible for maintaining daily yard operations and standards, ensuring an excellent customer experience while upholding safety standards throughout the yard at all times. This role involves managing yard inventory, maintaining a safe and organized yard, ensuring safety requirements are met, delivering high customer service, and communicating issues to management.

Requirements

• Ability to operate and maintain all equipment and vehicles in the yard, strictly adhering to all safety regulations and guidelines.

• Possess a valid drivers license, as well as possess or be willing to obtain a chauffeur's license.

• Regular and reliable attendance is mandatory.
• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with providing a great customer experience.
• Basic math proficiency for calculating quantities and ensuring accurate inventory counts.
• Proven organizational, time management, detail-orientation, and problem-solving abilities.
• Effective and consistent communication skills with internal and external customers.
• Ability to adapt quickly, thrive, and succeed in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have an inherent desire to learn, develop, and strive for continuous improvement.
• Must be able to work outdoors in extreme and varying weather conditions and temperatures.
• Constantly lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds; regularly lift and/or move objects, equipment parts, and tools up to 50 pounds or more; and occasionally move objects up to 100 pounds or more.
• Spend extended periods standing and walking on varying, possibly uneven surfaces, maneuvering throughout the yard and around large equipment/obstacles. May also remain stationary for long periods (standing or sitting).
• Move into different positions, including bending and stooping, to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces.
• Use hands, fingers, and arms to manipulate tools, equipment, and small parts with precision and control. This includes constantly performing repetitive motions such as gripping, twisting, turning, fingering, handling, feeling, or making repeating motions and reaching.
• Good vision and hearing are essential for safely operating machinery, reading technical manuals, and communicating. Must have close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Wear personal protective equipment (PPE) such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection at all times.
• Must be able to operate a computer and other office productivity machinery.

Responsibilities

• Manage yard inventory control and procedures, including staging, loading, unloading, shipping, receiving, cycle counts, and transfers.
• Ensure all loads are accurate and delivered promptly.
• Maintain a safe, hazard-free, and organized yard in accordance with company standards.
• Perform general yard and building cleanup, routine inspections, maintenance, repairs, and equipment cleaning.
• Ensure all safety requirements and training are completed.
• Deliver a high standard of customer experience.
• Communicate issues that could impact the business to the Store Manager in a timely and effective manner.
• Assist with various other duties as assigned by the Yard Supervisor or Store Manager.
