About The Position

Woodlawns Landscape Company is looking for a Yard Associate to take ownership of our yard and warehouse organization, seasonal color preparation, and material staging operations. This is a year-round role and a great fit for someone who likes working outside, staying organized, managing details, and helping crews succeed. The Yard Associate plays a critical role in ensuring seasonal color materials, faux materials, inventory, and supplies are organized, prepared, and ready so crews can work efficiently every day.

Requirements

  • Takes pride in organization and attention to detail.
  • Can take ownership of seasonal color preparation and material staging.
  • Enjoys creating systems and keeping materials organized.
  • Can communicate clearly with managers, crews, and vendors.
  • Can read and write English.
  • Has a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Can become DOT certified and maintain a DOT health card.
  • Can use a phone for calls, texts, photos, and communication.
  • Willing to work outside in different weather conditions.
  • Dependable, proactive, and willing to help where needed.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Must be able to lift up to 75 lbs with assistance.
  • Must be able to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, snow, and changing weather conditions.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in landscaping yard operations, warehouse operations, seasonal color or plant material, inventory management, deliveries, driving a truck and trailer, skid steer operation, or snow operations is helpful.
  • Seasonal color knowledge is not required on day one, but it is a plus.
  • Willing to learn and become highly proficient in organizing and preparing seasonal color materials.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership of organizing seasonal color material.
  • Receive, count, sort, and organize seasonal color deliveries.
  • Prepare seasonal color material for crews based on daily schedules and direction from management.
  • Stage seasonal color material each afternoon so crews are ready for the next day.
  • Maintain organized seasonal color inventory and storage areas.
  • Ensure live inventory is watered and properly cared for.
  • Take ownership of organizing and preparing faux material.
  • Track and communicate returned seasonal color and faux material.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized yard.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and efficient warehouse.
  • Ensure materials, tools, and supplies are stored properly.
  • Organize returned materials and communicate inventory updates.
  • Identify and report safety concerns or organization issues.
  • Receive vendor deliveries.
  • Count and verify delivered materials.
  • Report shortages, damaged materials, incorrect deliveries, or inventory concerns.
  • Help maintain accurate inventory counts and material organization.
  • Communicate inventory information clearly to management.
  • Make deliveries to crews or job sites when needed.
  • Pick up materials and supplies as directed.
  • Support snow operations during the winter.
  • Assist with additional yard, warehouse, or operational tasks when primary responsibilities are complete.
