About The Position

Armtec Inc. is seeking a Yard Associate to join their team in Grande Prairie, Alberta. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working outdoors, operating equipment, and being part of a hardworking team. The Yard Associate will be responsible for moving materials, preparing customer orders, and maintaining an organized yard, working with forklifts, mobile equipment, and production teams. Reporting to the Regional Manager, this position supports production, ensures accurate shipments, and maintains a safe and clean work environment. The ideal candidate is reliable, safety-focused, and enjoys physical, team-oriented work.

Requirements

  • High school diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and support teammates.
  • Basic math skills and the ability to work with metric and imperial measurements.
  • Ability to read work instructions and complete basic documentation.
  • Mechanically inclined with the ability to identify potential equipment issues.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Physically capable of performing manual labour, lifting materials, operating equipment, and standing or walking for extended periods.
  • Forklift certification, or the willingness and ability to obtain certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, construction, industrial, warehouse, or outdoor yard environments is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Perform product preparation tasks such as cutting bevels, palletizing pipe, rolling couplers, and arch pipe as required.
  • Operate hand tools and various equipment including plasma cutter, steel chop saw, MIG welder, recorrugator, electrical saws, and nail gun.
  • Support the Shipper/Receiver to safely move finished products and work-in-progress materials throughout the yard using forklifts.
  • Assist with inventory counts and maintain accurate stock locations.
  • Perform daily equipment inspections and basic servicing in accordance with company procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment, including removing debris, scrap, and keeping traffic lanes clear.
