About The Position

This role is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the company's outdoor yard and indoor shop areas. The custodian will operate equipment such as yard sweepers, blowers, and brooms to clear debris, manage waste and recycling, and assist with general facility upkeep while adhering to strict safety and environmental protocols. The position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving, a commitment to safety, and the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • Formal Education: High School diploma or GED
  • Experience: 6 months or less
  • Able to easily and effectively comprehend written material and communicate orally and in writing with employees and customers.
  • Basic problem solving ability using established examples / guidance.
  • Some creativity to generate solutions or improve effectiveness within well-established boundaries.
  • Assignments allow some discretion in decision making and setting priorities within well-established parameters.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct all assigned work in a safe manner, adhering to all applicable safety, environmental and contamination control policies, procedures and regulations.
  • Wear proper personal protective equipment.
  • Ensure cleanliness of all areas outside the buildings through operation of the yard sweeper, blowers, broom and pick up of debris.
  • Work with managers of facility to establish housekeeping procedures to optimum appearance to team members and visitors.
  • Remove all waste or recycling from designated areas in the shops or other areas on the campus.
  • Place the material into designated areas.
  • Notify supervisor when designated areas have reach full capacity.
  • Assist with maintaining the facility by following proper contamination control guidelines.
  • Attend and successfully completes required tasks and training classes.
  • Work in a neat and orderly fashion, constantly looking for ways of improving the methods of work, work area, and safety standards.
  • Approach work in a positive manner and maintain conduct that is supportive of the work team.
  • Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing tasks on time while maintaining safety and quality expectations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
