About The Position

As a Y-Kids Summer Day Camp Assistant for the Skagit YMCA School Age Youth program you will be creating meaningful learning experiences for children that focus on building self-esteem through educational achievement and belonging. Requirements

Be a minimum of 18 years old
Have a high school diploma or a GED
Must have child development knowledge and experience
Demonstrated ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
Must have a TB Test by Mantoux method, HIV/AIDS/BBP awareness, and Food Handler’s Permit prior to start
First Aid, Pediatric CPR/AED, Child Abuse and Mandatory Reporting training, and a DCYF portable background clearance within 30 days of hire
Complete STARS basic 30-hour training or educational exemption within 6 months of hire

Nice To Haves

Experience working with children 5-12 years of age preferred

Responsibilities

Develop a positive environment for children, parents, and staff
Demonstrate an understanding of the developmental needs of children and families
Be a positive role model demonstrates good judgment, and abide by program rules
Supervise and assure proper safety for a group of children
