X-ray Technologist (Float)
About The Position
The responsibilities of this job include, but are not limited to, obtaining quality x-rays using correct position and radiation exposure, implementing safety procedures for patients, self, and staff to avoid unnecessary exposure to radiation, and creating and documenting x-ray CD copies correctly according to Patient First guidelines. This role also involves labeling images and sleeves correctly when making copies, understanding and correctly using x-ray and processing equipment, and understanding and using the bell system. The technologist will be responsible for filing and maintaining all x-ray paperwork, ensuring patient safety when using wheelchairs, stools, and other equipment, and understanding and using various logs and screens such as the Daily Log, X-Ray Listing, Copy Listing, and X-Ray Status Screen. Additionally, the role requires understanding and using the automated medical records system, cleaning the work area, performing biological cleanup in accordance with OSHA guidelines, and completing other maintenance assignments as directed. The position also involves receiving, moving, and restocking ordered supplies, adhering to established Patient First policies and procedures, and addressing physician and nurse requests with respect and in a timely manner. Completing checklist tasks for the x-ray and treatment areas, attending training classes and staff meetings, and being available as needed (with potential interruptions to breaks and mealtimes for patient care and center operations) are also key responsibilities. Finally, the technologist is responsible for the operating, using, and maintaining medical and office equipment as trained.
Requirements
- Employee must be at least 18 years of age
- High school graduate or equivalent
- Keyboarding experience required
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
- Licensed to practice as Radiologic Technologist or a Limited Radiologic Technologist by the Virginia Board of Health Professions
- Limited Radiologic Technologist must be licensed to practice in the following anatomical areas: chest/thorax, extremities, skull/sinuses, spine and abdomen/pelvis
