About The Position

In keeping with Shields Health Care’s commitment to excellence, the X-Ray Technologist provides a professional, caring atmosphere to all customer groups while maintaining a fast-paced, multitask-oriented clinical environment. This is a per diem float opportunity across multiple sites in Brighton, Dartmouth, Weymouth, and Brockton, Massachusetts. The role involves performing X-rays according to center protocols, providing contrast administration, and supporting patients throughout their exams. The technologist follows applicable Shields and partner-hospital policies, procedures, and protocols, and may perform other work of a lower or equivalent classification as required or directed, or higher-classification work for training, development, or as circumstances warrant.

Requirements

CPR certification.
Massachusetts state licensure.
At least 3 months of prior X-ray experience.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Ability to sit and use a computer for extended periods.
Ability to assist patients with mobility difficulties.
Ability to push, pull, and lift at least 25 pounds; requirements may be met with or without accommodation.

Responsibilities

Follow applicable policies, procedures, and protocols to ensure patient safety.
Explain all aspects of the exam to patients at an appropriate level of understanding.
Ensure patients are cleared of contraindications and hazards.
Position patients accurately and ensure their comfort.
Maintain visual and verbal contact with patients during exams.
Perform X-rays according to center protocols.
Complete all forms related to patient exams.
Record patient data in the Tech Data Entry program.
Provide and issue films or CDs when appropriate.
Forward data and/or films or CDs to the radiologist upon completion of the exam.
Assist clerical staff as circumstances arise.
Clean and resupply equipment and rooms as needed.
Administer contrast.
