The Radiologic Technologist provides clinical services according to radiology practice standards to ensure optimal department functions. This role involves demonstrating skills and knowledge in the use of all x-ray equipment and performance of all x-ray protocols and procedures. The technologist must demonstrate technical proficiency in producing high-quality exams within the appropriate length of time for each procedure. The position also involves administering sound patient care practices, communicating effectively with patients to obtain clinical history, explaining procedures to patients and families, recognizing and resolving clinical or emergent problems, and responding to critical test findings. Additionally, the role requires acquiring and evaluating patient lab values when applicable, maintaining equipment and work areas, troubleshooting malfunctions, and managing supply levels. Quality control checks, sterile technique, aseptic practices, and adherence to body substance isolation policies are crucial. The technologist will also complete ancillary tasks such as accurately recording information on requisitions, performing clerical duties, and inputting/verifying data in PACS/RADIANT.
