About The Position

The X-ray Technologist position at AMG AOC Naperville Freedom Dr - Radiology, part of Advocate Health, is a full-time role requiring 40 hours per week, including Saturdays. The technologist is responsible for determining appropriate radiological techniques and patient positioning, operating advanced radiology equipment, and adhering to all safety standards to ensure patient safety and quality care. Key duties also include coordinating quality control tasks, providing instruction and orientation to new technologists, and maintaining positive patient relations. Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited AMA School of Radiology.
  • IDNS license.
  • 1-3 years experience as a general radiographer.
  • Knowledge of Health Information System.
  • Basic knowledge of radiology equipment.
  • Certified in radiology and registered by ARRT.
  • CPR certification.
  • Licensed by IDNS.

Responsibilities

  • Determination of appropriate radiological technique and position for patient using immobilization and support devices.
  • Positions patient, adjusts equipment, secures and immobilizes support devices as needed to tactfully perform procedures.
  • Determines appropriate radiographic technique based on anatomy and patients condition to obtain quality films for the radiologists.
  • Secures history from patient regarding reason for prescribed test and records on appropriate form for the radiologist to review.
  • Operation of advanced and sophisticated radiology equipment.
  • Assists radiologists with procedures to include the more advanced and specialty procedures (i.e., basic special procedures, QA assignments as assigned, etc.) requiring additional experience and knowledge.
  • Adherence to all accepted safety standards and practices to ensure patient safety and quality patient care.
  • Uses universal precautions in daily performance of procedures.
  • Maintains compliance with established safety standards to protect patients and staff at all time (i.e., appropriate patient shielding, etc.)
  • Maintains exposure badge.
  • Maintains supplies and cleanliness for assigned room on a daily basis.
  • Administers CPR as necessary.
  • Assures accuracy of examination performed and requisition.
  • Familiar with MSDS information pertaining to chemicals used in the department.
  • Performs clerical duties such as maintaining adequate patient records, daily statistics, answering telephones, scheduling examinations and giving instructions to patients for examination to provide smooth and continuous department services.
  • Determines appropriate ICD 9 codes for completed procedures.
  • Coordination of quality control tasks.
  • Checks film quality and ensure proper and correct labeling is provided.
  • Coordinates the flow of patients into and out of the department in accordance with established departmental/center procedures.
  • Performs quality control activities, responds to inquires, coordinates patient flow and communicates with Radiologists and other personnel to ensure exams are completed in a timely fashion.
  • Prepares radiology rooms for procedures and equipment and supplies as required.
  • Reports deficient inventory and linen to immediate supervisor.
  • Labels radiology images according to department standards and criteria.
  • Prepares contrast media as necessary following department standards and manufacturers recommendations.
  • Performs daily sensitometry of processors; assists physicist and/or state inspector in performance of annual inspections.
  • Provision of instruction and orientation to new technologists to effectively participate in the assessment of their performance reviews.
  • Provides direction and instruction to technologist in need of assistance with specific procedures.
  • Participation in problem-solving issues addressing patients, department operations, quality assurance procedures, interdepartmental relationships and employee moral.
  • Maintains positive patient relations and telephone etiquette following prescribed departmental policies and procedures.
  • May be required to supervise Student Technologists assigned to the Center and provide input into the student’s performance to the Clinical Instructor.
  • Maintains current ARRT certification, IDNS licensure and CPR certification.
