X-Ray Technician
About The Position
This role is responsible for performing X-rays and MRIs for patients, managing related administrative tasks such as filing films, scheduling appointments, and ordering supplies. The position also involves dispensing and maintaining inventory of medications and general medical supplies. Additionally, the technician will be responsible for applying and removing casts and performing Medical Assistant duties when not occupied with X-ray or casting tasks. The role requires strong communication and patient service skills, with the ability to read and interpret documents, and speak effectively to patients and colleagues.
Requirements
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Twelve to eighteen months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Valid license as an X-ray technician
- Skilled in providing assistance to patients on the X-ray table
- Excellent communication skills
- Ability to work as a Medical Assistant whenever required
- Ability to travel to other offices as and when needed
- Willingness to work Urgent Ortho shifts and some Saturdays
- Good communication skills
- Sensitivity to patient needs
- Strong sense of customer/patient service
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to speak effectively before patients, outside vendors, or other employees within the organization
- Ability to communicate clearly and professionally
Responsibilities
- Perform x-rays for patients
- File and maintain x-ray films
- Perform MRIs for patients
- Schedule MRI appointments
- Print reports and montage films for physicians
- Order MRI supplies
- Order, dispense, and maintain inventory of medications for the office
- Order and maintain inventory of general medical supplies
- Apply and remove casts as needed
- Perform CMA duties when not busy in x-ray or in casting
