About The Position

This position involves operating x-ray and auxiliary equipment, processing images, and maintaining equipment and required documentation. The schedule is Saturday - Sunday & Tuesday from 12:00 am to 10:00 am, and Wednesday from 12:00 am to 9:00 am. The role requires preparing patients for exams, performing various x-ray exams according to established standards, monitoring patient condition, and processing/maintaining exposed images.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Radiologic Technology program, required.
  • New York State and/or Connecticut Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration, required.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience performing radiologic exams, required.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares patient for exam, relieving anxiety by translating examination into layman terms and ensuring consent forms are obtained if necessary.
  • Performs various x-ray exams according to established standards, procedures, and departmental protocols. Positions patient for radiographs, arranges immobilization and supportive devices, and adjusts x-ray equipment to obtain correct exposure.
  • Monitors patient’s condition in accordance with technical and safety standards, recognizing and reporting motor abnormalities, fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions, etc., to the Radiologist.
  • Keys in Patient history data and other pertinent information obtained from the requisition.
  • Monitors patient’s condition during the procedure.
  • Operates equipment for transferring computed images to film and archival of disc memory to tape.
  • Processes and maintains exposed images, labels film for identification, and maintains required records.
  • Utilizes film markers and ensures images are properly marked as the “right” or “left” side.
  • Ensures images are legibly labeled with correct date and patient identification.
  • Enters the exam onto the daily log sheet as needed.
  • Properly completes the correct tracking steps for each examination.
  • Performs related duties, as required.
