About The Position

Capital Orthopaedics provides comprehensive orthopaedic care supported by advanced diagnostic tools, physical therapy services, and a full range of non-surgical and surgical treatment options. Capital Orthopaedics & Sports Medicine is home to some of the most trusted orthopaedic surgeons in Des Moines and across Central Iowa. Our team of experienced orthopaedic specialists helps patients overcome musculoskeletal pain and injuries so they can return to the activities that matter most. This position is responsible for patient movement coordination. This includes communicating with the patient via telephone and in person and performing x-ray studies. The position will act as an ambassador on behalf of the company with customers, clients, and vendors in public.

Requirements

  • Maintain a valid Iowa driver’s license
  • Proof of car insurance
  • Type 30-40 wpm
  • 1-4 years’ of experience in high-volume interactive clinic or hospital
  • Fluency in medical terminology
  • Strong customer service skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication
  • Ability to work cooperatively with others in a multi-cultural environment
  • Ability to understand and carry out complex oral and written instructions

  • Current state Radiological Technologist
  • Current state ARRT certification
  • Current Mandatory reporting in both children and adult
  • Current Basic Life Support/Cardiopulmonary resuscitation certification

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to three (3) years of experience in Orthopaedics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Obtaining history and chief complaints from patients
  • Ability to apply splinting and or cast
  • Ability to consent patient for surgical procedure
  • Efficiently take x-ray images of anatomy
  • ICD-9 and ICD-10 knowledge
  • Electronic medical record knowledge
  • Ability to electronically file and print prescriptions
  • Follow up on ensuring referral and outpatient request are completed
  • Responding to questions from patients and physicians
  • Working cooperatively with patients, physicians and co-workers
  • Sterilization of equipment
  • Audit and assist with patient room cleanliness
  • Transcription
  • Complete necessary paperwork for patients
  • Insurance verification and prior authorization for injectable medication, outpatient procedures, and/or DME orders
  • Attendance/Punctuality – Is consistently at work and on time; Ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent
  • Other duties as assigned
