Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience.
  • Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Geology, Physics, Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Hands-on experience operating XCT systems in a laboratory or research setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in 3D data reconstruction and analysis.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a laboratory environment.
  • Experience with volumetric imaging software and familiarity with common file formats (e.g., TIFF stacks, RAW volumes).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant scientific or technical field.
  • Experience working with geological or planetary materials.
  • Familiarity with radiation safety protocols and XCT hardware components.
  • Programming or scripting skills (Python, MATLAB, etc.) for automation or analysis workflows.
  • Experience in experimental, scientific and/or or research laboratory environments.

Responsibilities

  • Operate XCT instrumentation, including scan setup, calibration, optimization, and routine maintenance.
  • Develop and execute scanning protocols tailored to diverse material types, including planetary materials, analogs, and engineered specimens.
  • Perform data reconstruction, processing, segmentation, and quantitative analysis of XCT datasets.
  • Utilize specialized XCT software (e.g., Avizo, Dragonfly, ORS, Volume Graphics) for visualization and measurement workflows.
  • Document scan parameters, data quality metrics, and analysis methods in accordance with project and curation requirements.
  • Collaborate with scientists and engineers to interpret data and generate scientific deliverables.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues with XCT instrumentation and software.
  • Maintain data organization, metadata, and archive-ready datasets in compliance with laboratory standards.
  • Contribute to the development of new XCT methodologies, automation, or analysis pipelines.
