About The Position

The WyoWire Studio Producer / News Editor leads the production and coordination of student broadcast, multimedia, and news operations by managing studio production, editorial workflows, and cross-platform collaboration. This position oversees the creation and distribution of high-quality audio, video, livestream, and digital news content while coordinating assignments, production schedules, and newsroom operations. The Studio Producer / News Editor mentors student staff, ensures adherence to journalistic, technical, and production standards, and supports an integrated student media environment.

Requirements

  • Must be a currently enrolled University of Wyoming student with a minimum 2.5 GPA.
  • Working knowledge of video editing, audio production, photography, or multimedia software.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn AP Style, journalistic ethics, copyright requirements, and Student Media policies.
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends, and special events as production schedules require.
  • Must be available to start work Aug. 24, 2026.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience creating audio, video, photography, written, or multimedia content through coursework, student organizations, internships, or personal projects.
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Audition, Photoshop, After Effects), DaVinci Resolve, or comparable multimedia production software.
  • Experience with livestream production, podcasting, studio operations, or broadcast equipment.
  • Experience coordinating projects, leading student teams, or mentoring peers.
  • Familiarity with social media publishing, digital storytelling, and multimedia content creation.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees studio and broadcast production operations for WyoWire.
  • Manages editing, post-production, publishing, and multimedia production and distribution.
  • Tracks assignments, deadlines, production progress, and newsroom workflow.
  • Coordinates on-air talent, producers, videographers, and technical crew during productions.
  • Oversees quality control for broadcast, multimedia, and editorial content.
  • Supports continuous improvement of newsroom processes, production efficiency, and audience engagement.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Supervisor and Student Staff.
  • Serve as a direct line to adviser, sales manager, production coordinator, and business manager when the director is unavailable.
  • Other duties as assigned.
