About The Position

This is a part-time position to assist with WyldLife ministry in Amarillo, Texas. The role involves learning to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry through training and direct field experience. Mission staff are expected to grow spiritually, develop leadership skills, contribute to resource development (including fundraising), engage in direct ministry (contact work, club, Campaigners, camp), and provide administrative support. All employees must sign a Statement of Faith and adhere to Young Life's Christian purposes and policies.

Requirements

  • Proven relational skills with both kids and adults.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Must profess a belief in Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and Lord.
  • Must subscribe to the statements and policies required of all Young Life staff, including the Young Life Statement of Faith.
  • During working and nonworking hours, must be ready, willing, and able to fulfill ministry functions, refrain from conduct and statements that detract from biblical standards, and abide by all policies and practices of Young Life.

  • College degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to lead and participate in effective Young Life ministry.
  • Develop a yearly personal spiritual growth plan including prayer, solitude, retreat, reflection, and church community involvement.
  • Actively participate in the spiritual life of the Young Life community and lead teams/individuals in spiritual development.
  • Care for, recruit, train, and supervise key volunteers and committee members.
  • Cast vision and develop yearly ministry strategies.
  • Raise financial support and maintain good donor care practices.
  • Communicate ministry updates and progress to personal donor partners.
  • Network and develop strategic relationships with key adults in the community.
  • Assist with camp fundraisers.
  • Engage in contact work, lead teams to plan and conduct Young Life club and Campaigners/discipleship ministry.
  • Implement a summer and school-season camping strategy.
  • Serve on a summer assignment at a Young Life camp each year.
  • Adhere to all Young Life policies and procedures, maintaining professionalism.
  • Manage finances with stewardship, accountability, and transparency.
  • Maintain accurate records of kids, leaders, and donors.
  • Provide clear, prompt, appropriate, and professional communication.
  • Set yearly strategic ministry plans and initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
