About The Position

The WWTP Lead Operator supervises the continuous operation and maintenance of the facility and subordinate personnel on an assigned shift. The role performs operational checks and corrective tasks, determines chemical adjustments needed for efficient and economical treatment, assists with or performs equipment maintenance, and carries out general housekeeping duties.

Requirements

• Any combination of education and experience equivalent to a High School Diploma or GED.
• Five years of related experience and/or training in a wastewater treatment facility.
• Possession of a valid and appropriate driver’s license.
• Possession of a valid Class 1 Wastewater Works Operators License from the State of Virginia, Department of Professional and Occupational Regulation.

Responsibilities

• Supervise continuous facility operations and maintenance and subordinate personnel on an assigned shift.
• Make operational checks on equipment and perform tasks to correct problems encountered.
• Determine chemical adjustments necessary for efficient and economical treatment.
• Assist with or perform equipment maintenance.
• Perform general housekeeping, including floor maintenance, washing windows, painting, mowing grass, trimming hedges, containing weeds, and cleaning equipment.
