Writing Specialists provide feedback on student writing assignments and work with students to hone their legal writing skills. Although Writing Specialists occasionally work with upper-division students and recent graduates, their primary focus is providing additional support for first-year law students as they work on their graded writing assignments for their first-year Legal Research & Writing course. Writing Specialists typically meet with first-year students in 30-minute sessions to provide feedback and guidance on assignment drafts. They work closely with the full-time Legal Research & Writing faculty to collectively support first-year students as they work to develop their writing skills. Writing Specialists are paid hourly and may work anywhere from 15-150 hours per semester depending on the needs of the school.
