About The Position

We are searching for an experienced and versatile Writer to join our Marketing team. This role is a unique opportunity to combine your passion for writing with Lee Valley’s legacy of excellence. You will create engaging and informative content that showcases our products and expertise. Reporting to the Director of Integrated Marketing, you will be part of a fast-paced team responsible for writing across a wide range of formats, including product descriptions, website content, email campaigns, digital ads, catalogs, and in-store signage. You’ll collaborate with designers, marketers, and subject matter experts to deliver compelling copy that reflects Lee Valley’s trusted voice while meeting project goals.

Requirements

  • University degree or 3-year college diploma in English, creative writing, journalism or related marketing field.
  • 5 + years of writing experience.
  • Exceptional writing and research skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • A passion for storytelling. You are creative, curious about your subjects, and can write short or long-form copy.
  • Familiarity writing for print and digital marketing campaigns.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office and an ability to adapt to new tools and technologies as needed.
  • Familiarity with keyword search methods as well as SEO tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional time-management and organizational skills.
  • An analytical mind with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to work on tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Write compelling, clear and informative content for woodworking, gardening and home products, ensuring alignment with Lee Valley’s brand voice and guidelines.
  • Create engaging copy for a variety of marketing materials, including email campaigns, website content, digital and print ads, and product catalogs.
  • Implement SEO best practices to enhance visibility and reach targeted audiences.
  • Collaborate with other team members, such as graphic designers, subject matter experts, marketers, and project managers to gather input and feedback for content development that supports the project brief.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, audience preferences, and innovations in B2C copywriting.
  • Present ideas and drafts to the internal team and revise based on feedback.
