About The Position

Lincoln Middle School is seeking two positive, dependable wrestling coaches to support our middle school wrestling program. We are looking for coaches who can help student-athletes build wrestling skills, confidence, discipline, teamwork, and a lasting appreciation for athletics. Our wrestling program serves students with a wide range of experience, from first-time wrestlers to students with previous competition experience. Successful candidates will help create a safe, structured, and inclusive environment where students can learn, take healthy risks, and grow as athletes and teammates.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of safe wrestling techniques, conditioning practices, and sportsmanship expectations.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students and maintain a supportive, well-managed team environment.
  • Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to meet district coaching requirements, including required training, background checks, and any applicable certifications.

Nice To Haves

  • Wrestling experience as an athlete, coach, instructor, or official is preferred.
  • Experience working with middle school-aged students is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and lead age-appropriate wrestling practices focused on fundamentals, conditioning, safety, sportsmanship, and skill development.
  • Coach and supervise student-athletes during practices, meets, transportation-related activities, and other team events as assigned.
  • Teach and model positive behavior, accountability, respect for teammates and opponents, and good sportsmanship.
  • Support wrestlers with varied experience levels and provide meaningful opportunities for all students to improve.
  • Ensure student-athletes use safe and appropriate wrestling techniques and follow all safety expectations.
  • Communicate regularly and professionally with students, families, school staff, the athletic director, and other coaches.
  • Follow all school, district, league, and athletic-program expectations related to student eligibility, conduct, supervision, and safety.
  • Work collaboratively with the coaching staff to organize practices, prepare for meets, and support a successful season.
