About The Position

This position is responsible for the operation of 3 or more of the following machines and their subcomponents: Aqua 1-7; Bosch; Hayssen 6, Treatsize, Theatrebox 1-2, Rovema. The operator will check the quality of candy and material prior to packaging operations, perform regular quality checks, train, and support general packers. They will also check the functionality of the metal detector, set up and operate Aquarius related sub-machines, and check bags, weights, seal temperature, registration, date code, and batch numbers, recording all data into Quality Suite. The role involves engaging in machine start-up tasks such as calibrating scales, changing programs, setting up film, and completing changeover duties. Additionally, the operator will use a film lifter, feed cartons to machines, produce shift efficiency reports using RCA, and report waste, rework sugar, machine hours per order, and downtime using SAP. Responsibilities include conducting major line cleaning, changeover cleaning, and end-of-shift cleaning, performing safety checks on all machines at start-up, and maintaining cleanliness on the packaging line, specifically jaw and knife cleaning. The operator must ensure a proper supply of materials like boxes, cartons, and labels according to the BOM, and continuously clean the area surrounding the work station. A strong understanding of SOPs, work instructions, and all safety programs, policies, and initiatives is required, along with ensuring all packaged products meet GMP and food safety requirements. Other duties as assigned by the supervisor are also part of the role.

Requirements

  • GMP/Food Safety and HACCP training
  • Lockout training

  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Computer literacy is essential and required with specific emphasis on SAP and Quality Suite
  • Numerical literacy is required
  • Knowledge of and ability to follow specific and key protocols, policies, etc.
  • Some mechanical knowledge, familiarly with terms and plant systems/machines
  • Troubleshooting/problem solving skills
  • High School Diploma
  • Previous experience as a General Packer is required
  • Good command of written and oral communication in English is required
  • Excellent teamwork and interpersonal skills are essential

Responsibilities

  • Record all troubleshooting and downtime occurrences in Quality Suite
  • Engages in machine start up tasks such a calibrating the scales, changing the program, setting up the film, complete changeover duties, etc.
  • Operates film lifter, feed cartons to machines
  • Using RCA, produces shift efficiency report
  • Using SAP, report all types of waste and re-work sugar, number of machine hours per order, and hours of downtime
  • Conducts both major line cleaning, changeover cleaning, and end of shift cleaning
  • Performs safety checks on all machines at start-up
  • Maintain cleanliness on the packaging line, specifically jaw and knife cleaning
  • Ensure proper supply of materials, including boxes, cartons, labels in according with the BOM
