This is a seasonal role for a Wrangler in Rothbury, MI. The position involves participating in and implementing programming activities both in and out of the barn, as well as maintaining horses, equipment, and facilities. The Wrangler will need to understand horse behavior, feeding, and health, and be able to manage herds on horseback, on foot, or by driving. Identifying horses by name and level, safely moving them, and following specific feeding and tacking instructions are key responsibilities. The role also includes assessing feed and hay quality, following grooming procedures, identifying and reporting health issues to the Equestrian Manager, and adhering to all safety guidelines and emergency procedures. Collaboration with staff to ensure timely rider mounting and departures, assisting inexperienced riders, and clear communication, especially during emergencies, are essential. Knowledge of all property trails and effective communication of ride position are also required. Fence repair around pastures and barns may be necessary.
