About The Position

This role involves planning, coordinating, and providing total nursing care for residents, with a focus on wound care. The Wound Nurse will also provide supervision and guidance to clinical staff members regarding wound care. The scope of work may be adjusted based on state-specific Nurse Practice Act rules.

Requirements

• Graduate of accredited LPN/RN School of Nursing.
• Valid LPN/RN license in the state employed.
• Valid CPR certification.
• Skilled in directing and motivating the workforce.
• Ability to work cooperatively as a member of a team.
• Ability to communicate effectively with residents and their family members, and at all levels of the organization.
• Ability to react decisively and quickly in emergency situations.
• Knowledge of training techniques for clinical staff.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

• two year of nursing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the ostomy care for patients on units.
• Provides advanced clinical guidance to physicians and nursing staff for complex wound drainage, drainage confinement, skin protection, and the prevention of pressure necrosis (skin deterioration and skin loss).
• Develops and conducts educational programs for staff.
• Determines appropriate nursing interventions for identified patient problems, symptoms, and teaching needs.
• Develops a patient care plan and determines the equipment, materials, and resources needed to successfully implement the care plan.
• Selects the stoma (opening) site on the patient prior to surgery, based on the patient's anatomy, activity level, and lifestyle.
• Performs related responsibilities as required.
