The Wound Care Tech will prepare patients for exams, transport and provide assistance to patients as required. This role involves assisting physicians with technical and minor surgical procedures, preparing cultures of wounds, and delivering specimens to the lab. The technician will also prepare and set up supplies, instruments, and equipment, and clean treatment and exam rooms. They will operate and calibrate equipment such as ultrasonic debridement and wound vacuum-assisted closure devices, and photograph wounds for documentation. Additionally, the role includes performing point-of-care testing for glucose monitoring and maintaining knowledge of related computer programs. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care and demonstrate knowledge of growth and development principles.
