About The Position

Essential Functions: Functions primarily as a clinical consultant and provides direct patient care and education to highly complex patients and provides staff educational programs in areas of expertise. This includes utilization of clinical expertise to provide care, counseling, and teaching to patients in need of wound, ostomy, and/or continence management. This role utilizes the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation to provide, delegate, supervise, and document care and teaching of patients and family. Qualifications: The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to perform the essential functions of this position: Education: BSN required; Master of Science in Nursing preferred Completion of a WOCN Society-accredited educational program in wound management and/or certification by the WOCNCB in wound care (i.e., certified wound, ostomy, and continence nurse [CWOCN]; certified wound care nurse [CWCN]; certified wound and ostomy nurse [CWON]) within two (2) years preferred. Experience: Three (3) to five (5) years of current clinical medical/surgical nursing required Additional Requirements: Current North Carolina RN license or RN multi-state licensure privilege through the Nurse Licensure Compact required. BCLS Recommended Skills: Experience with EPIC EMR documentation system. Additional Skills Required: Participates in creating a culture of safety. Demonstrates knowledge of adult teaching/learning principles. Demonstrates an understanding of the vision, values, mission, philosophy, and communication patterns of FirstHealth. Demonstrates strong communication skills and tools with demonstrated ability to concisely communicate with nursing leaders, establish goals, milestones, and priorities, ensuring team members understand work assignments and in communicating project status, risks, and issues Demonstrates effective organizational and time management skills and conflict resolution. Maintains clinical and professional competency levels appropriate to the services provided, and to the needs of the age group served. Communicates effectively with a wide range of age groups, ethnic, educational, and socioeconomic backgrounds. Incorporates current educational evidence into individual practice as a staff development expert. Serves as a role model to promote excellence and safety. Serves as a role model for education and professional nursing practice.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of current clinical medical/surgical nursing required
