About The Position

This Wound Care Registered Nurse opportunity is part time, offers full benefits and a convenient day shift schedule. Northern Nevada Health System is a regional multi-facility system that has excelled at offering quality care to residents of the greater Truckee Meadows. We have many locations across the region and in our rural communities. Northern Nevada Medical Center, a 124-bed acute care hospital in Sparks, is our flagship provider. A second hospital, Sierra Medical Center, is currently under construction and is scheduled to open in 2022. Sierra Medical Center will be the first full-service hospital built in the region in over a century. We also provide primary care services and a wide range of specialty care through Northern Nevada Medical Group. Our providers have locations throughout Reno, Sparks, Fallon and Bishop to serve the community. In addition, patients can receive a variety of outpatient surgical services at Quail Surgical and Pain Management Center. Learn more @ www.nnmc.com Job Summary: Coordinates treatment to provide comprehensive wound assessments and plan of care including goals, implementation of treatment, evaluation and outcomes for patients throughout the organization. Provides patient, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies. Is a resource person for physicians, wound team and clinical staff? Additionally is able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision. Participates in performance improvement plan of the organization.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing; Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Current state Registered Nurse Licensure.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience in medical/surgical, rehabilitation nursing.
  • Current BLS certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Wound, Ostomy and Continence Nurse (CWOCN) or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Ability to perform wound assessment, reassessment and management for all patients and per policy. This includes neonate, pediatric, geriatric and the general population
  • Knowledgeable of the anatomy and physiology and disorders of the gastrointestinal, genitourinary and dermal systems
  • Utilizes principles of current wound management theory when providing care to patients with acute and chronic wounds.
  • Develops skin care programs to prevent skin breakdown of patients.
  • Provides patient, family and staff education regarding wound management, prevention of pressure ulcers, support surfaces, dressing selections and other therapies.
  • Is a resource person for physicians, wound team and clinical staff.
  • Able to perform general nursing duties in all departments with adequate supervision.
  • Participates in performance improvement plan of the organization.
