This position involves providing comprehensive care to patients with ostomies, draining wounds, fistulas, pressure ulcers, and acute/chronic wounds within a surgical clinic setting. The role includes patient and family education on supplies and equipment, assessment of patient needs using various information sources, and implementation of nursing and medical care plans. The nurse will also play a leadership role in developing standards of care, procedures, and policies related to wound and ostomy care. This includes guiding staff on skin breakdown prevention, maintaining current knowledge through in-service programs, and providing follow-up care via clinic visits and phone consultations. The position also involves analyzing stock items for cost-effectiveness, staying current in the field through professional development, participating in quality improvement projects, managing clinic operations, and ensuring compliance with CMS standards.
