About The Position

For over 125 years, Calvary Hospital and Calvary @Home located in the Bronx, New York has been dedicated to the palliative care of advanced cancer and other terminally ill patients and their families. Through a caring, compassionate, philosophy of non-abandonment, the hospice provides a full spectrum of palliative services, including emotional, spiritual, and physical care. The hospice receives patients from referring institutions throughout New York City and the entire tristate area. Requirements

  • Current New York State Registered Nurse License/Registration.
  • Current certifications in Wound and Ostomy Nursing or Wound Care Certified (required).
  • Minimum of two years Medical/Surgical nursing experience.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of professional Nursing.
  • Baccalaureate Degree required.
  • Graduate of a WOCN accredited WOC Nursing Education Program (required).

Nice To Haves

  • Membership in Wound, Ostomy, Continence Nursing Society (preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Provides acute and rehabilitative care for people with selected disorders of the gastro-intestinal, genitourinary, and integumentary systems.
  • Provides direct care to patients with stomas, wounds, fistulas, drains, pressure ulcers, tubes and incontinence.
  • Serves as an educator, consultant, and researcher.
  • Plays a pivotal role in the guidance of optimal patient care.
