About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Wound Care Nurse (RN) provides compassionate care and plays a central role in treating patients throughout their recovery. This full-time position is located in Detroit, Michigan. The role focuses on preserving skin integrity, coordinating wound and skin care practices, and providing hands-on care for difficult and non-healing wounds. The nurse also serves as a resource to hospital staff and ensures that applicable regulatory requirements are met.

Requirements

Associate degree in Nursing required.
At least one year of related experience required.
Valid state RN license required.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required by the start date.
Complete wound care training within the first 90 days in the role.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.

Responsibilities

Implement and monitor skin preservation strategies to preserve skin integrity.
Ensure wound and skin care protocols are approved by the medical staff.
Organize weekly multidisciplinary wound and skin rounds for high-risk patients and patients with pressure ulcers or other significant wounds.
Provide hands-on wound care for difficult and non-healing wounds.
Serve as a resource to hospital staff on wound and skin care issues.
Ensure all regulatory requirements are met.
