About The Position

The Riverside Magnet School at Goodwin University is seeking a full-time Multilingual Learner Teacher for the elementary level (Pre-K through Grade 5) for the 2026-27 school year. The successful candidate will guide student learning, integrate the school’s Reggio Emilia philosophy, be student-centered, collaborative, and knowledgeable about best practices for elementary-aged children. This position is in a public, urban district with small class sizes, a strong support network for teachers, and ensures access to necessary resources for high-quality instruction. The Multilingual Learner Teacher, under the direction of the Building Director and guidance of the ML District Coordinator, will lead the agency in developing and implementing services to build high-quality education systems for English Learners.

Requirements

  • Appropriate CT teaching certification or provide evidence of eligibility.
  • Teaching experience and minimum of two years post-secondary education in bilingual/TESOL field of education required.
  • Experience developing and implementing professional learning opportunities for educators; requires knowledge of current state standards, CELP Standards and NGSS Standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provides region a variety of options for professional learning around effective instruction for MLs
  • Designs targeted professional learning for general educators around Language Acquisition and progress monitor of MLs
  • Collaborates with districts to build district systems to support all MLs
  • Assists with the annual testing on the LasLinks state exam
  • Maintains appropriate records for ML Learners and their families, progress monitoring and communication to families on students who exit the program
  • Evaluates district English Learner Programs and supports action plan for district improvement
  • Collaborates with Student Services Department to develop trainings regarding Multilingual Learners with disabilities
  • Collects and analyzes data regarding the impact of Professional Learning on student outcomes and ML student growth data within the district.
  • Models high effective instruction for MLs and provides teachers with job-embedded coaching to build and increase capacity of educators
  • Provides insight/oversight on Magnet School of America Grant application and implementation
  • Collaborates with LEARN staff to investigate and develop regional overage/under credit program
  • Design regional newcomer program for families in district
  • Other duties as assigned by the ML Coordinator.
