About The Position

Position Overview: The Workshop Based Mechanic has a variety of roles and responsibilities that range from race preparation to subassembly and gearbox development. They will have involvement with preparation, upkeep, and organization of the race cars and their components ensuring the cars are in optimal condition when being loaded for transportation to races, practice sessions or tests. They will be involved with Pit Stop training, engineering projects as well as 7 post / auxiliary testing.

  • Parts Management: Inventory Control
  • Part Fabrication
  • Ordering and Logistics
  • Transport Preparation: Packing and Loading
  • Support at the Track
  • Post-Race Work: Teardown and Inspection
  • Metallic & Composite material Fabrication: Produce, modify and repair components as required by the team to ensure detail, accuracy and repeatability.
  • Fabricate and weld components in aluminum, steel and other motorsport-grade materials.
  • Produce brackets, fixtures, mounts and other garage needs to meet engineering requirements.
  • Repair cracked or damaged components timely and to ensure structural.
  • Upright Assembly and Maintenance
  • Inspection and wear analysis
  • Rebuilding and repairing uprights
  • Subassembly Technician Responsibilities
  • Assembly of other key subassemblies
  • Precision fitting and balancing
  • Pre-Race and Post-Race Responsibilities
  • Pre-race preparation
  • Post-race teardown and analysis
  • Communication and Collaboration
  • Collaboration with engineers and race mechanics
  • Coordination with the suspension department
  • Real-time problem-solving
  • Performance and Reliability Optimization
  • Focus on reducing weight and increasing strength
  • Optimization of components for handling
  • Safety and Compliance
  • Compliance with technical regulations
  • Safety checks
  • Testing: Assist with testing as required.
  • Ad hoc tasks as assigned by the Crew Chief, Team Manager or Team Principal (or their designees).
