About The Position

The Workplace Violence Prevention Coordinator (WVPC) plans, directs, and manages the activities of the systemwide Workplace Violence Prevention (WVP) program. The WVPC maintains up-to-date knowledge of federal and regulatory requirements, guidelines, and applicable state laws that relate to workplace violence and related safety initiatives. The WVPC leads workplace violence threat identification with prevention efforts, training, assessments and responses, as well as risk mitigation for matters involving threats of violence, both internal and external, inappropriate communications, assault, harassment, and other incidents of workplace violence in coordination with leadership teams and the Workplace Violence Prevention Committee. The WVPC will execute strategies and goals with system leaders to reduce the frequency and severity of Workplace violence events. The WVPC develops clinical patient care strategies to reduce injuries. Leads data collection and analysis to demonstrate effectiveness of current workplace violence prevention efforts.

Requirements

  • Require a minimum of two (2) years of acute care environment experience working with law enforcement, security operations, incident management, social services, nursing, psychology, risk management or similar course of study.
  • Require a bachelor's degree in a related field (including Nursing, Psychology, Organizational Development, Behavioral/Occupational Health or Counseling).
  • Require one of the following Workplace Violence Prevention or de-escalation/behavior management certification, or must be obtained within the designated timeframe determined by management: - Certified Threat Manager (CTM) - Workplace Violence Prevention Specialist (NASP) - Workplace Violence Prevention Training (OSHA) - Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Certification (CPI) - Certified Healthcare Security Officer (CHSO)

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer experience developing a workplace violence prevention program with a multi-disciplinary team in a large healthcare setting.
  • Prefer program management, teaching, consulting, project implementation and outcome management experience.
  • Prefer completion of specialized training, certification, and experience in behavioral threat assessment and management, de-escalating verbal and physically assaultive patients, and patient visitors.
  • Prefer the ability to collaborate effectively as a team leader in a dynamic health care environment.
  • Prefer demonstrated ability in problem solving, consensus building, and negotiating.
  • Prefer demonstrated ability to prioritize work activities to achieve goals in a timely manner.
  • Prefer demonstrated skills in producing clear, concise, and well-organized reports, procedures, and presentations.
