Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of project design process, construction documentation, programming, space planning, furniture specifications and materials and finishes
  • Strong project budgeting and contract negotiations skills
  • Strong working relationships with clients and consultants
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Advanced experience in all phases and aspects of a project including programming and planning
  • Strong competency in interior design specifications, calculations and industry standards, and application of building codes and specifications
  • Experience in directing, mentoring and coordinating project teams
  • Collaborative and professional work ethic
  • Strong interpersonal skills, verbal, listening and written including client presentation skills
  • Strong Revit knowledge
  • Strong Project management software skills
  • Strong graphic, 3D visualization and computer drafting skills
  • Bachelor’s Degree in interior design or related field is required
  • LEED GA within 6 months of hire

  • Professional Accreditation in one area of Living Design that interests you: LEED AP with Specialty, BREEAM AP, WELL AP, SITES AP, Passive House Institute Certified Passive House Consultant/Designer CPHC/CPHD, or ILFI Living Future Accreditation

Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for developing connections and relationships in the community and for bringing in projects.
  • BE responsible for client contact and communicating goals and responsibilities to project team.
  • Take initiative on strategic issues including design direction and providing quality management.
  • Develop and coordinates detailed design concepts with ability to develop functional requirements and project-design criteria.
  • Demonstrate understanding of the architectural design process and integration of design concepts/ with ability develop design element components.
  • Coordinate integration of basic engineering systems into the overall project design.
  • Respond to technical implications of design decisions.
  • Promote firm and project goals of excellence in design, execution and sustainability.
  • Understand all aspects and phases of the architectural, design and production process.
  • Implement code, accessibility and zoning analyses.
  • Assist with design and technical coordination among disciplines (interiors, architecture, branded environments, planning and strategies)
  • Perform tasks according to Perkins&Will Project Delivery Manual.
  • Define, monitor, and maintain control of the scope of work and services for the project including project schedule and work plan.
  • Prepare and negotiate client and consultant proposals, fees, schedules, and contracts.
  • Be primary coordinator of all communication between the client and Perkins&Will, (including Managing Principal, Design Principal, and Technical Principal) ensuring timely resolution of client concerns and management of business issues including contracts and additional services.
  • Be responsible for the complete integration of design and technical aspects of the project.
  • Be responsible for the clear and timely communication of information to the project team and ensuring compliance with the project team’s goals.
  • Monitor the performance of the project team and approach, to assure that the Firm’s quality standards and design goals are being met.
  • Establish, maintain, and document regular project related meetings including client, internal teams and consultant’s meetings.
  • Initiate, document, and maintain project set-up, including contract review, project process and filing procedures, work authorizations and invoicing/receivables.
  • Be responsible for meeting or exceeding the financial goals established for the project and providing timely and appropriate information to Project Accountant to initiate invoicing.
  • Direct contact responsibility with clients and associated consultants, to insure timely collections and management of delinquent accounts receivables.
  • Ensure the orderly and complete preparation, distribution, and retention of all project written records.
  • Consider risk management by monitoring client issues and technical issues in a timely manner to minimize liability.
  • Be responsible for the orderly close-out of projects including contractual requirements.
  • Follow through with post contract administration requirements (e.g.,: follow-up phone calls to ensure client satisfaction and source additional marketing leads, complete final historical database, etc.).
  • Coordinate staffing resources with office Operations Director.
  • Assure a positive teamwork atmosphere and assists in supporting the development and retention of quality staff including training/development/mentoring.
  • Participate in marketing opportunities and facilitates multi-discipline/office collaboration within firm.
  • Develop and maintain successful client relationships for repeat business.
  • Facilitate program development with project teams.
  • Be responsible for project design budget and cost control.
  • Prepare design presentations, assuming design lead in client and owner presentations.
  • Direct, organize, and mentor junior staff.
