The Workplace Mental Health Specialist is accountable to support the psychological health and safety of City staff through both preventative actions and post-incident intervention services, to reduce the City’s overall health risk. Key activities include providing Critical Incident Stress Management (CISM) and debriefing services, supporting teams and worksites through regular check-ins and psychoeducational workshops, empowering City leaders to promote psychological safety within their teams, and measuring the efficacy of workplace well-being interventions. Responsibilities include assisting and co-owning actions that achieve improvements in wellness and productivity resulting in reduced absenteeism and presenteeism and improved organizational performance. The role is required to offer immediate and/or appropriately responsive post-incident debriefing and/or related services to City staff, respond to physical and psychological health and safety concerns, and coach leaders and employees in contributing to continuous wellness improvements in the workplace. The Specialist must ensure for an equity and inclusion lens with respect to work performed. Work must include trauma informed and culturally competent practices and considerations.
