About The Position

This Workforce Development Technical Specialist is responsible for the statewide development, implementation, monitoring, technical assistance, and evaluation of the Jobs for America’s Graduates Louisiana (JAG-LA) and Alternative Education Programs. The incumbent serves as a program expert and collaborates with American Job Centers (AJCs), JAG-LA Specialists, educators, employers, and workforce partners to support student success, workforce readiness, and positive post-graduate outcomes. This role provides engaging classroom and work-based learning experiences that strengthen students’ leadership, employability, and life skills while promoting high school graduation and career advancement opportunities. The Office of Workforce Development (OWD) is a key division of Louisiana Works managing programs in workforce training, job placement, apprenticeships, and business engagement. Through collaboration with local boards, educational institutions, and industry partners, OWD aims to improve economic mobility for job seekers and ensure Louisiana employers have the skilled talent they need, contributing to the state’s economic growth.

Requirements

  • Six years of experience in workforce development, administrative services, or social services; OR Six years of full-time experience in any field plus three years of experience in workforce development, administrative services, or social services; OR A bachelor's degree plus three years of experience in workforce development, administrative services, or social services; OR A master's degree plus two years of experience in workforce development, administrative services, or social services.
  • Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of JAG-LA and Alternative Education programs statewide.
  • Provide technical assistance, training, and ongoing support to AJC staff, JAG-LA Specialists, and District Supervisors.
  • Build and maintain strong partnerships with AJCs, employers, workforce boards, and business service teams to promote employment and career opportunities for participants.
  • Conduct outreach activities, including employer visits, recruitment efforts, job fairs, student conferences, quarterly meetings, and on-site program visits.
  • Analyze workforce, labor market, and demographic trends to support demand occupations, workforce planning, and effective service delivery.
  • Support students, including students with disabilities, by promoting academic achievement, graduation, employability, and successful post-secondary outcomes.
  • Performs other job duties as required.
