About The Position

The Workforce & Career Connections Coordinator is a qualified, competent and experienced full year appointee of the school district who supports the Director of Workforce and Economic Development and fulfills responsibilities and duties in a fast-paced environment throughout the calendar year.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in education, counseling, human resources, or a related field.
  • Experience in career advising, workforce development, or adult education.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Understanding of the unique challenges faced by adult learners transitioning careers.
  • Background in event planning and community engagement.
  • Knowledge of local and regional job markets.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Possess a thorough knowledge of and familiarity with modern office technology, electronic equipment and software applications and operations. Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) in a Windows environment, data entry and online registration systems. Proficient with mail merge and exporting to Excel.
  • Maintain confidential information.
  • Evenings required (flexible schedule).
  • Possess physical and emotional capacity to fulfill responsibilities and duties expected. This position involves sitting at a desk for several hours a day, sustained hand/wrist movement as in writing or using a computer keyboard/mouse. Other activities may include moderate to frequent physical exertion in body movements such as reaching, bending and twisting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute recruitment strategies to meet projected enrollment goals and maintain a strong candidate pool.
  • Target outreach efforts toward individuals including unemployed and underemployed Massachusetts residents aged 18+ who are authorized to work in the U.S.
  • Implement additional program admission requirements as defined for each career pathway.
  • Screen all applicants for eligibility in accordance with CTI Eligibility Policy.
  • Maintain and share eligibility documentation for monitoring purposes.
  • Assess applicants against additional program entry requirements.
  • Conduct individualized career counseling to assess skills, interests, and professional goals.
  • Provide support with resume development, interview techniques, and job search strategies.
  • Assist students in identifying career paths that align with their education and work experience.
  • Design and facilitate career readiness workshops covering topics such as workplace professionalism, communication, resume writing, and job application techniques.
  • Organize job fairs, networking sessions, reverse job fairs, and mock interview events to connect students with potential employers.
  • Develop and implement initiatives such as workshops, networking events, and seminars to enhance student involvement.
  • Serve as a liaison between students, instructors, and community partners to encourage collaboration and resource sharing.
  • Conduct surveys and gather feedback to continuously improve engagement efforts.
  • Provide individualized support to participants, addressing barriers such as childcare, transportation, and housing assistance through MassHire support services.
  • Establish and maintain partnerships with local employers to create job placement, internship, and mentorship opportunities.
  • Organize employer visits, career fairs, and recruitment events specifically designed for adult learners.
  • Support graduates in securing training-related employment and track job retention for 30 days.
  • Document employer details, employment start dates, job titles, wages, benefits, and other relevant employment information.
  • Maintain and update a repository of career resources, including job listings, training programs, and industry-specific tools.
  • Keep students informed on labor market trends, certification opportunities, and workforce development initiatives.
  • Handle phone inquiries, respond to emails, and follow up on messages.
  • Process student enrollments, withdrawals, refunds, and credits.
  • Budget and finance experience
  • Assist the Director of Workforce and Economic Development with additional responsibilities as needed.
