About The Position

Under the general supervision of the Director of Worker’s Compensation or designee, this employee is responsible for the collection of Worker’s Compensation Trust Fund accounts receivable. An employee in this class is responsible for locating delinquent employers for the purpose of collecting overdue accounts, checking businesses for compliance with Worker's Compensation insurance coverage, and representing the department in court when cases are assigned. The employee is expected to use independent judgment in the performance of some duties. Work is continuously reviewed through conference, and appraisal of performance.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university and one year of administrative support work experience.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent from an accredited institution, and three (3) years of administrative support work experience.
  • Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation insurance regulations.
  • Knowledge of laws governing Worker's Compensation Insurance.
  • Knowledge of local and federal regulations, industry standards, and underwriting principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of internal and external guidelines governing underwriting practices and regulatory standards.
  • Knowledge of effective communication strategies that underwriters must follow when interacting with clients, brokers, and regulatory bodies.
  • Knowledge of the training requirements to keep underwriters updated on industry standards.
  • Knowledge of the audit processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
  • Skill in using data entry systems and office software (e.g., Microsoft Office).
  • Skill in record-keeping.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors and reviews underwriting practices to ensure compliance with local and federal regulations.
  • Conducts regular audits of underwriting files.
  • Collaborates with management to establish and enforce underwriting guidelines and standards.
  • Prepares reports on compliance metrics and presents findings to the Director, Worker’s Compensation.
  • Provides assistance in responding to regulatory inquiries and audits.
  • Works closely with employers to provide guidance and support on compliance issues, helping them navigate complex regulatory requirements effectively.
  • Conducts thorough investigations into suspected violations of compliance standards by employers and recommends corrective actions as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
